The AMTRAK Station at Winslow, Arizona is a Train Watcher's Heaven. You can watch trains from the concourse along the tracks. Long freight trains are quite frequent and the AMTRAK Southwest Chief stops briefly in Winslow in the morning going eastbound and late evening going westbound. La Posada Hotel is at the other end of the concourse and an excellent base camp for visiting Winslow or possibly an overnight stay in between trains. The Turquoise Dining Room at La Posada offers excellent cuisine and service. If you like trains, historic hotels and fine dining, this is the place to go.
